E's Vino - "Virgin Soils" Malbec 2024

E's Vino is the personal project of Eugenia Luka. Eugenia grew up among the vines, working with her father, Roberto Luka, founder of Finca Sophenia, the esteemed estate winery located in Gualtallary, Mendoza, Argentina. Eugenia decided to embark on her own path after living a life alongside her father's great passion. Today, she crafts terroir-driven wines — Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda, Chardonnay, Torrontés, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon — that uniquely represent their origins of Gualtallary, Tupungato and the Uco Valley. Each step of Eugenia’s winemaking process — from grape to glass — is rooted in the mindfulness that every present action impacts the environment and future generations. It is through her conscientious approach to viticulture and oenology that Eugenia believes she will leave her legacy.

The 2024 E's Vino Virgin Soils Malbec pours a deep violet with brilliant ruby highlights. Aromas of fresh blackberries, black cherry and wild blueberry leap from the glass, layered with crushed violets, mountain herbs and a subtle hint of graphite. The palate is remarkably vibrant for Malbec, combining ripe, dark fruit with Gualtallary's signature mineral backbone and refreshing acidity. Fine-grained tannins provide structure without weight, leading to a long, energetic finish accented by notes of cocoa, black pepper and stony minerality. Equal parts powerful and elegant, this is a beautifully balanced expression of one of Argentina's finest terroirs. Pair with aged Manchego or Gouda, wood-fired mushroom and caramelized onion pizza, smoked short ribs, slow-braised beef cheeks, rosemary-crusted lamb chops or grilled beef tenderloin with chimichurri.
