Don Ventura - Viñas do Burato 2022

Bodegas Losada Fernández is housed in a more than 300-year-old stone estate in the historic village of Castro de Ferreira de Pantón, a property that has been passed down through generations of the same family. Carefully restored in 1999, the winery marked a new chapter with the first bottling of Don Ventura, named in honor of an ancestor of the current owners. The vineyards lie within the dramatic landscape of Ribeira Sacra—so named for the many ancient chapels scattered across its rugged terrain—where indigenous Mencía vines are planted on steep, stone terraces carved into the canyons of the Sil and Miño rivers. These rivers moderate the region’s hot summers and cold winters, while the breathtaking, Roman-era terraces, still meticulously maintained today, form the foundation for wines of striking purity, character, and sense of place.

Don Ventura's entry-level wine. The vineyard where the grapes are sourced is wetter than the other D Ventura vineyards, and thus provides a lively, pure, fresh and accessible expression of the Mencía grape in Ribeira Sacra. Vinification Fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel. Tasting Notes Light in aspect with floral and fresh aromas. The palate is medium bodied with rose petal and red fruit flavors framed with fresh tannins. Pairings Wild mushrooms; chicken; chorizo; eggs.
