Domaine Vincent Bachelet consists of 17 hectares of vineyards in ten different appellations in the Côte de Beaune and Gevrey-Chambertin. A native of Dezize-lès-Maranges, Vincent is a fourth-generation winegrower. His traditional practices and expertise were acquired while working alongside his two brothers, Jean-François and Jean-Louis, for their father Bernard at Domaine Bernard Bachelet. The three brothers ran the family estate until the mid-2000's, when they divided the estate's 100 hectares between them. Vincent is now passing on his knowledge and techniques to his children, Aurore and Étienne. They help him run his estate, which was established in 2007 in Chassagne-Montrachet at a former wine storehouse. Vincent has been restoring the property for the past eight years, including the 18th century wine cave and cellars. Vincent's dedication to history and tradition, as well as his natural farming practices, shine through in his wines. They are true farmer's wines, exhibiting unbelievable purity and authenticity.
Vincent Bachelet's Le Clos du Cromin is made from 100% Chardonnay in Meursault's limestone-marl soils. Aromas of fresh lemon curd, apple, pear, and soft stone fruits mix with a wonderful, chalky minerality as they plume from the glass. The Meursault is soft and rich with a persistent, attractive freshness that grows on the palate. There are creamy lemon meringue and apricot flavors, balanced beautifully by a subtle acidity. The wine is absolutely gorgeous from start to finish, a textbook example of the balance between tension and richness Meursault is known for.
