Domaine Vincent Bachelet consists of 17 hectares of vineyards in ten different appellations in the Côte de Beaune and Gevrey-Chambertin. A native of Dezize-lès-Maranges, Vincent is a fourth-generation winegrower. His traditional practices and expertise were acquired while working alongside his two brothers, Jean-François and Jean-Louis, for their father Bernard at Domaine Bernard Bachelet. The three brothers ran the family estate until the mid-2000's, when they divided the estate's 100 hectares between them. Vincent is now passing on his knowledge and techniques to his children, Aurore and Étienne. They help him run his estate, which was established in 2007 in Chassagne-Montrachet at a former wine storehouse. Vincent has been restoring the property for the past eight years, including the 18th century wine cave and cellars. Vincent's dedication to history and tradition, as well as his natural farming practices, shine through in his wines. They are true farmer's wines, exhibiting unbelievable purity and authenticity.
For Bachelet's Gevrey-Chambertin, all Pinot Noir grapes are hand-harvested and destemmed and after fermentation are aged for 16 months in new and second year oak barrels. The wine shows a beautiful ruby color in the glass with garnet highlights. Aromas of blackberry and sour cherry plume from the glass, alongside spice notes and an underlying earthiness. The palate is firmly structured with delicate yet robust tannins and an invigorating acidity that propels the concentrated fruit flavors into a powerful and balanced finish. Drink now or over the next 5 years.
