Since 2019, Clément Boillot-Barthod has been at the helm of both his parents’ Domaines, Louis Boillot and Domaine Ghislaine Barthod. As the only child of Louis and Ghislaine, Clément has been getting an Ivy League-level education since he was able to walk: with his dad in the vines for both estates and with both parents in their shared cellar in Chambolle. Louis is a master farmer, first caring for his father’s estate, Lucien Boillot, in the 80s and 90s and then moving on to tend his own (half of his father’s estate starting in 2002 with Lucien’s retirement) and his partner, Ghislaine’s, whose storied Chambolle estate should need no introduction. Between the two estates, Clément — with Louis’ mentorship — organically farms a treasure trove of ancient vines, the amount of which rivals any in Burgundy.
