Description

The secret to the wines of Dupuy de Lôme is the location of their vineyards. In Bandol, most vineyards face south in order to absorb as much sunshine as possible to fully ripen their grapes. However, the vineyards of Domaine Dupuy de Lôme face north. Facing north, the vines receive less intense sunlight and enjoy a cooler micro-climate, which allows for retention of acidity and slower sugar accumulation in the grape berries. As a result, the wines are lighter, fresher and more elegant than those from south-facing vineyards, which is perfect for the production of white and rosé wines. Furthermore, the domaine's vineyards are totally isolated, so the biodynamic farming of vigneron Laurence Minard isn't compromised by a neighbor's use of pesticides or herbicides. The vineyards are pristine, and the quality of the domaine's exceptional fruit comes across perfectly in the high caliber of their wines.

This beautiful Bandol Blanc is a blend of 60% Clairette, 30% Ugni Blanc and 10% Rolle (Vermentino). In the glass the wine sits an alluring light gold color. After a few swirls lovely aromas of persimmon, Mediterranean herbs and sea-spray explode from the glass. On the palate the wine is pristine; fresh and clean up front while it lightly coats the mouth mid-palate with a mild viscosity. Ripe peach, herbs and tropical fruit flavors blend perfectly with a wet stone minerality, giving way to a soft, delicate finish with a very subtle note of white pepper. Pair with pissaladiere (Provençal onion pizza), braised octopus, grilled or pan seared white fish or baked lemon-pepper chicken.
