Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Père et Fils - Beaune Montrevenots Premier Cru 2023

Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Père et Fils — one of our flagship Burgundy producers — was established in 1879; five generations later, it is managed by Christine Gruère-Dubreuil, and her husband, Nicolas Gruère, along with their daughter, Clementine, who has officially joined her mother in the vineyards and cellar. Superb winemaking tradition and an intense love of their land has enabled the estate to rise to epic status, using the family motto, “Pleasure and passion carry on…” as a guideline for success. This family has spent nearly a century and a half chasing perfection, and that fact is beautifully evident in each new vintage from this unforgettable estate.

Christine’s Beaune Montrevenots is a beautifully structured Premier Cru made from 100% Pinot Noir. All fruit is hand-harvested and carefully destemmed before fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 12 to 15 months of aging in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and oak barrels, 25% of which are new. The wine opens with expressive aromas of dark berries, black cherry and violet, with subtle earthy and savory nuances emerging underneath. The palate is firm and concentrated, with layers of blackberry, black plum and dark cherry framed by a pronounced mineral character, fine-grained tannins and a streak of refreshing acidity. Hints of black tea, graphite and gentle spice add complexity to a long, focused finish. This is a serious, age-worthy Burgundy, but one that already offers plenty of depth and character. This wine will sing with a variety of mushroom dishes, pan-seared duck breast, herb-crusted lamb or roasted beef tenderloin.
