Description

Domaine de la Marinière is located in Panzoult, on the eastern edge of Chinon, and has been farmed by the Desbourdes family since 1965. Originally operated as a true polycultural farm, the estate raised animals and cultivated cereal grains alongside its vineyards. In the 1980s, Renaud Desbourdes returned to work with his father, gradually shifting the focus toward viticulture and winemaking while expanding vineyard plantings. He assumed full management of the domaine in 1999 upon his father’s retirement. Today, the next generation is represented by Renaud’s son, Boris, who has joined the estate full-time and is helping guide this traditional family domaine forward. Boris developed a strong commitment to organic farming during his time working with Vincent Laval in Champagne, and upon returning home, he immediately began converting the family’s vineyards to organic practices, achieving certification in 2018. The estate comprises 15 hectares of vines averaging 30 years of age, with some parcels dating back to the 1950s and 1960s, planted on hillside sites of gravelly sand and limestone soils. The culmination of these efforts is a range of wines that exemplify a modern expression of classic Chinon, blending deep-rooted tradition with fresh, youthful energy.
