Domaine de l’Idylle is nestled deep in the French Alps in the valley of the Combe de Savoie, where the vineyards sit beneath the dramatic peaks of the surrounding mountains. Established in 1840 by François Tiollier, the estate has remained in the Tiollier family for generations and today encompasses just over 20 hectares planted to Jacquère, Altesse, Roussanne, Mondeuse and Pinot Noir. The vineyards are rooted primarily in argilo-calcaire soils, with the Alpine climate providing the cool temperatures and pronounced diurnal shifts that help preserve the freshness and vibrant acidity that define the region’s wines. The estate is currently run by brothers Philippe and François Tiollier, alongside Philippe’s oldest son Sylvain. Their vineyards are presently undergoing organic conversion, reflecting the family’s continued commitment to working their land with the utmost care while allowing the character of Savoie’s indigenous varieties to come through in wines that are fresh, pure, charming and wonderfully easy to enjoy.
Domaine de l’Idylle’s Cruet — 100% Jacquère — pours an almost water-white, crystal-clear hue in the glass, immediately conveying the wine’s wonderfully light and refreshing personality. Delicate aromas of lemon zest, lime, white flowers and a subtle stony freshness lead into a palate that is remarkably crisp and vibrant, with mouthwatering citrus flavors carried by lively acidity and an ultra-fine mineral character. There is a beautiful purity here that makes the wine feel almost like drinking from a cold mountain spring — weightless, invigorating and exceptionally clean through the finish. While Raclette is the classic Alpine pairing for Jacquère, this is equally enjoyable as an aperitif or alongside oysters, chilled shellfish, fresh chèvre, grilled trout and or light chicken dishes.
