Domaine Christophe & Yoann Perrin - Fleur de Savagnin 2023

Founded by Christophe Perrin in 1998 in the village of Vernantois, Domaine Christophe & Yoann Perrin is a small, family-run estate of roughly seven hectares rooted in the marl-limestone soils of the Côtes du Jura. Christophe’s son Yoann joined the domaine in 2022 after gaining experience in Burgundy, including time at Ramonet and Tollot-Beaut, and today oversees both the vineyards and winemaking. The family farms Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Pinot Noir and Trousseau, with many of the vines more than 60 years old. Their philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: meticulous work in the vineyard, minimal intervention in the cellar and an unwavering focus on allowing Jura’s distinctive terroir to speak clearly through their wines. The vineyards are mechanically weeded and treatments are kept to a minimum, while native-yeast fermentation and traditional élevage lend the wines a combination of finesse and authenticity. The result is a particularly appealing meeting point between the precision and elegance of Burgundy and the unmistakable character of the Jura.

Domaine Perrin’s Savagnin — expressive and unmistakably Jura — opens with aromas of citrus and orchard fruit, gradually revealing hints of dried flowers, walnut and gentle spice. The palate is dry and concentrated, with lively acidity providing a beautiful counterpoint to its depth and a fine mineral thread carrying the wine toward a long, savory finish. Extended élevage in oak lends a subtle, nutty nuance while preserving the wine’s freshness and varietal character. This is a natural partner for Comté, chicken or veal in cream sauce, trout, mushrooms — especially morels — or richer dishes with a gently spiced character.
