Domaine Bony Gachot - Bourgogne Rouge 2022

Domaine Bony Gachot is small, family domaine in Nuits-Saint-Georges run by Fabienne Bony. In the 1960's, Jean-Pierre Bony founded the estate along with his wife, and in 2000, their daughter, Fabienne, tool control. Since she's taken over, Fabienne and her husband have increased the domaine's vineyard holdings to 6 hectares, while also negotiating contracts with growers throughout the Côtes de Nuits. In the vineyards Fabienne practices lutte raisonnée – adapting their vine treatments according to the true threat of disease, using products which respect the environment as much as possible, and only using chemical products if no other solution can be found. Traditional winemaking practices in the cellar result in wines of purity, expression and class.

Fabienne’s Bourgogne rouge is crafted from five plots situated just south of Nuits-Saint-George. The vines average 10-40 years of age and are planted in very deep clay-limestone soils which impart a dazzling freshness to the wine. Mid-ruby red in color, this Pinot leaps from the glass with high-toned, mouthwatering aromas of red berry and stone fruit coupled with a hint of spice. Elegant and vibrant on the palate, juicy flavors of raspberry, cranberry and cherry pirouette with brilliant acidity, ultra-fine tannins and a subtle earthiness. No component is out of place, everything seamlessly coalescing towards a beautifully long finish. For a Bourgogne-level wine, this red punches well above its weight. Incredibly versatile on the table, Fabienne’s Bourgogne rouge can pair with a range of dishes… duck and pork terrine with cranberries and pistachios, roasted chicken or grilled flank steak. The possibilities are endless.
