Description

Château Smith Haut Lafitte is a Graves Grand Cru Classé in the Pessac-Léognan appellation in Bordeaux. Vines have been grown here starting with the Bosq family as early as 1365. In the 18th century, the estate was purchased by George Smith, a Scotsman, who gave the Château its present name. Today, the property is owned by Daniel Cathiard who combined modern winemaking techniques — both in the vineyard and the cellar — and age-old methods to produce one of the top wines of the region. All grapes are grown organically and hand-harvested

The Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon and 5% Sauvignon Gris fermented in French oak barrels 50% of which are new. The wine spends 12 months on the lees in barrels that are made onsite at the Château's cooperage. Pale yellow in the glass with aromas of pomelo, grapefruit, apricot an oak spice. The palate is laser focused with loads of energy and ripe fruit flavors balanced by a zingy, saline minerality and notes of acacia and lime blossom. Long, complex and dynamic. Enjoy with grilled prawns served alongside corn pudding.
