The estate of Château Puyanché has been in the Arbo family for five generations, since the early 20th century. Bernadette and Joseph Arbo run the property today, along with their two children, Margaux and Dorian. Prior to Bernadette and Joseph, the estate sold their grapes to the local co-operative, however, in 1998, they decided to start Château Puyanché as a tribute to Bernadette's great-great-grandfather. The estate is located in the Côtes de Bordeaux and consists of 38 hectares of vines that are farmed with the minimal use of pesticides in an environmentally responsible manner.
The Château Puyanché Blanc is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon grown in the limestone and clay soils of the Côtes de Francs. The grapes undergo a cold soak and fermentation starts in stainless steel tanks and finishes in barrel. The wine is aged for 7 months in 30% new French oak barrels, during which time regular lees stirring occurs. The wine is vibrant and aromatic with flavors of grapefruit, apricot and fresh spring herbs complimented by a soft texture and lively acidity. Enjoy with spring vegetables, grilled chicken and asparagus or fried fish.
