Description

Château Malescot-Saint-Exupéry is a Margaux estate ranked as a Troisième Cru, or 3rd Growth, in the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux. The château has a very long history, being one of the first vineyards planted in the Médoc in the beginning of the 17th century after the Dutch drained the area's marshes. The name of the estate comes from Simon Malescot, the Attorney General to Louis XIV and a member of the Bordeaux Parliament and Comte Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry, who purchased the estate in 1827.

The château consists of roughly 40 hectares of which 27 are under vine planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. All fruit is hand-harvested and destemmed, fermented under controlled temperature. The wine is aged 14-16 months in oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration.
