Château Clos de Boüard — located in Montagne-Saint-Émilion — was established in 2016 by owner and winemaker Coralie de Boüard. Coralie grew up in Saint-Émilion and became enamored by the winemaking process, accompanying as a child and then working alongside her esteemed father, Hubert de Boüard, owner of the prestigious Château Angélus. Today, Coralie manages her 30-hectare estate, which is comprised of hillside vineyards planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in their exceptional clay-limestone soils. Château Clos de Boüard possesses some of the oldest vines in the appellation (60-70 years of age) with an average age of 35 years.
La Dame de Boüard — the château's second label — pours a deep ruby red. This bombshell Bordeaux, composed of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, offers an eye-fluttering bouquet of juicy, red berry fruits tinged with spice. The medium-bodied palate is loaded with flavor — ripe strawberry, black raspberry, mulberry — accented with baking spice and a hint of crushed limestone. Those lush fruits are enveloped by seductively smooth tannins which gently guide this wine toward a long, elegant finish. Pair with grilled venison kebabs over rice or pan-seared duck breast with a cherry glaze.
