Established in 1870, Château Cantelaudette has remained in the hands of the Chatelier family for over 150 years and today is led by fourth-generation proprietor and winemaker Jean-Michel Chatelier. Since taking over the estate in 1984, Jean-Michel and his wife Laurence have transformed the historic Graves de Vayres property, replanting vineyards, constructing a modern winery and elevating the quality of every wine while remaining true to the estate's traditional Bordeaux roots. Château Cantelaudette is comprised of 60 hectares, where vineyards are planted on a mosaic of gravelly clay, gravelly silt and sandy-clay soils that impart both richness and freshness to the wines. The estate grows the classic Bordeaux varieties — including Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle — with meticulous vineyard management designed to express the unique character of each parcel. In both the vineyard and cellar, Jean-Michel favors thoughtful, sustainable farming practices and restrained winemaking, crafting wines that emphasize purity of fruit, balance, elegance and exceptional value rather than excessive extraction or heavy oak influence.
Château Cantelaudette Blanc is a beautifully balanced blend of 85% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle that showcases the richness and elegance of classic white Bordeaux. Aromas of ripe Bartlett pear, dried apricot and white peach rise effortlessly from the glass, accented by delicate white flowers and a distinct limestone-driven minerality. The high proportion of Sémillon lends the wine a silky, rounded texture that gracefully coats the palate, while Sauvignon Blanc provides vibrant freshness and lift. A brief four months of aging in oak subtly enhances the wine's creamy mouthfeel without overshadowing its bright fruit or mineral character. The finish is long, polished and mouthwatering, inviting another sip from the very first taste. Enjoy with creamy cheeses such as Brie or Camembert, pan-seared halibut, herb-roasted turkey breast, grilled chicken or roast pork with summer vegetables.
