Château Candeley - "Les 5 C" Bordeaux Rouge 2022

Established in the 14th century, Château Candeley is a small estate in Bordeaux’s Entre-Deux-Mers region was revitalized by owner and winemaker Sébastien Petit when he acquired it in 2013. A passionate vigneron with experience working at several respected Bordeaux properties, Sébastien has focused on reshaping the vineyard and elevating quality while remaining true to the character of the estate’s historic terroir. The property consists of roughly 25 hectares of vineyards planted on rolling clay-limestone slopes, predominantly to red varietals (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot) with one hectare dedicated to white. Vine age ranges from approximately 15 to 35 years. Sébastien emphasizes sustainability and respect for the environment in his thoughtful, low-intervention vineyard management (the estate will be certified organic starting with the 2023 vintage). The resulting wines combine the richness and depth associated with Bordeaux with a freshness and energy that reflect both the limestone terroir and Sébastien's modern, precision-minded approach to winemaking.

Château Candeley’s Les 5 C is the estate’s flagship cuvée, a classic Bordeaux blend that celebrates all five red varietals grown on the property: Crafted from equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, the wine bursts from the glass with aromas of black cherry, cassis and ripe plum accented by notes of violet, cedar and warm baking spice. On the palate, it is silky, generous and incredibly easy drinking, with juicy dark fruit flavors, soft tannins and a fresh lift that keeps each sip lively and inviting.
