Description

The lands of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot were first cultivated by the Romans over two millennia ago. Viticultural history continued with the monks of the Church of Saint Martin growing vines during the 17th century. The estate earned the first part of its name in 1787 by then owner General Jacques de Carles. By inheritance and marriage, the property was passed down through the 18th and 19th centuries until being acquired by Michel Bécot in the 1940’s. Michel combined his familial estate, Château La Carte, with the then, Château Beau-Séjour Fagouet, renaming the combined properties Châtaeu Beau-Séjour Bécot. The Premier Grand Cru Classé 'B' estate is wholly located on the Saint-Émilion’s famed limestone plateau. Beau-Séjour Bécot’s 16.5 hectares of vines (averaging 45 years of age, the oldest being 75+ years old) are grown in soils of deep limestone blanketed in clay and planted to a 2:1 ratio of Merlot to Cabernet Franc. Today, Michel’s granddaughter Juliette operates the estate after taking over from her father, Gerard, and uncle, Dominique, in 2014. The wines of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot exemplify the beautiful style of Saint-Émilion showcase their soft texture, richness and minerality.
