Description

Champagne A.D. Coutelas was established by local winegrower Louis Victor Coutelas over two centuries ago in 1809 and is still going strong. Today, eighth-generation winemaker Damien Coutelas runs the property, continuing estate’s pursuit of excellence. Damien organically farms (since 2020) his seven precious vineyards planted to Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier in clay-limestone and marl soils. Vine age ranges from 30-60 years. The winemaking techniques and tradition that have been passed down combine with Damien's agronomical and Champagne viticulture studies in Avize to help guide the estate along its three fundamental values: authenticity, quality and tradition.

A product of extremely old-vine Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (80% and 20%), this champagne is powerful, yet elegant. Aromas of fresh fruit -- peaches and mirabelle plums -- leap from the glass blended with a slight floral note. There is considerable structure on the palate, interlaced with a mellow vibrancy that carries through to an exquisitely lengthy finish.
