Cascina Vano - "il Pilone" Barbaresco Riserva 3 L 2021

Cascina Vano is a fifth generation winery located in Neive, Italy. The estate is comprised of 15 hectares of vineyards located in the heart of the Barbaresco. Currently, Bruno Rivetti — fourth generation winegrower — runs the property with help from his father Beppe and his children, Beatrice and Marco. The family's pride and passion is foremost the promotion and preservation of the Langhe. Cascina Vano is part of The Green Experience initiative, which is a collective of Piemontese wine producers who together strive to improve the quality of wines and take care of the soil, the biodiversity and the landscape of the Langhe.

Cascina Vano's Barbaresco Riserva drinks beautifully now, yet is still coming into its own. This is a must-have for any serious wine lover. The wine pours a deep reddish garnet in the glass and immediately, you are rewarded with notes of dark red fruit: wild and black cherry. After a few swirls: violets and earth. The palate is overwhelmingly ethereal… intense, elegant, complex and pristine. Deep, dark red fruit flavors are buttressed by a pleasant tannic structure that show this Riserva's ageability. Balanced by a delightful freshness, Cascina Vano's Barbaresco Riserva finishes long, with savory notes of spice and black tea. Decant for a half hour or so, the elegance, depth and complexity will unfold, layer after layer. Simply superb!
