Founded in 1919 by brothers Alfredo, Francesco and Alberto Pardi, Cantina Fratelli Pardi has a history deeply intertwined with the winemaking traditions of Montefalco, in the heart of Umbria. After a hiatus, the family revived the winery in 2002, with great-grandsons Gianluca Rio and Alberto Mario Pardi carrying the legacy forward today. Their 11 hectares of vineyards are situated on the rolling hills of Casale, Campolungo, Pietrauta and Lasignano, where predominantly sedimentary soils, east- and southeast-facing exposures and elevations favor balanced, expressive fruit. Alongside the region's celebrated Sagrantino, the family cultivates Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet, Grechetto, Chardonnay and the indigenous Trebbiano Spoletino. Vineyard work, from pruning and canopy management to crop thinning and harvesting, is all performed manually. Combining respect for local tradition with a restrained approach in the cellar, the Pardi family seeks to preserve the character of each grape and vintage, producing wines that reflect the distinctive terroir and enduring viticultural heritage of Montefalco.
Fresh, expressive and quietly distinctive, this Trebbiano Spoletino opens with fragrant citrus, white flowers and hints of orchard fruit, followed by flavors of lemon, crisp pear and ripe apple with subtle herbal and mineral nuances. Bright acidity lends energy and definition, while the palate has enough texture and substance to make this considerably more than a simple thirst-quenching white. Fermented in stainless steel and rested in bottle for at least three months before release, it retains its freshness while allowing the variety's natural character to shine. Serve alongside raw seafood, grilled shrimp, linguine with clams, zucchini parmigiana, fried squash blossoms or roast chicken with lemon and fresh herbs.
