Bodegas Luna Beberide was founded by Bernardo Luna, using his wife Mercedes Beberide's family vineyards, The property has become one of Bierzo's benchmark producers under the leadership of second-generation winemaker Alejandro Luna Beberide. The estate is dedicated exclusively to the region's indigenous grapes — Mencía and Godello — grown in sustainably farmed hillside vineyards between 700 and 900 meters above sea level. Their prized holdings include Finca Valdetruchas in Villafranca del Bierzo and the slate-rich vineyards of Dragonte in Corullón, where old vines rooted in clay-limestone and slate soils produce wines of remarkable freshness, minerality and precision. Guided by a philosophy that prioritizes terroir over intervention, Alejandro crafts wines that faithfully capture the unique character of Bierzo while balancing vibrant fruit, elegance and a profound sense of place.
Pale straw with green reflections, the Luna Beberide’s 2025 Godello offers inviting aromas of white peach, ripe pear, citrus blossom and Meyer lemon, layered with hints of fennel and wet stone. Three months of lees aging in stainless steel lends a subtle creaminess to the palate without sacrificing freshness, while vibrant acidity and a pronounced mineral core provide exceptional lift and length. Crisp yet textured, it finishes with lingering notes of orchard fruit, citrus zest and saline minerality that beautifully reflect Bierzo's high-altitude vineyards. Pair with oysters, shrimp ceviche, grilled octopus, pan-seared cod and herb-roasted chicken.
