Today, brothers Rosario, Filippo and Dario Raciti have transformed generations of grape growing into their own Rupestre label, crafting wines that faithfully express the character of one of Italy's most distinctive terroirs. The estate focuses exclusively on Etna's noble indigenous varieties — Carricante and Nerello Mascalese — grown in volcanic soils rich in lava, ash and sandstone that impart remarkable minerality and precision. Vineyard work is carried out by hand, with an unwavering commitment to preserving the integrity of the fruit and the unique identity of the volcano. Though pale ruby in color, the Rupestre Etna Rosso is deceptively complex. This 100% Nerello Mascalese offers expressive aromas of wild strawberry, sour cherry, red currant and dried rose, layered with notes of crushed volcanic rock, blood orange, wild thyme and subtle spice. Aged for 24 months in stainless steel to preserve varietal purity, the palate is refined and energetic, featuring silky tannins, bright acidity and exceptional transparency. The finish is long, savory and mineral-driven, with lingering impressions of red berries, herbs and volcanic ash that evoke the rugged landscape from which it originates.
