Azienda Agricola Petrera Pasquale has deep roots in the Gioia del Colle zone of Puglia, where the family has cultivated vines since the late 19th century, beginning to bottle their own estate wines under the Fatalone name in 1987. Today, the Pasquale family produces a focused range of four wines—three distinct expressions of Primitivo and a single Greco—crafted from certified organic vineyards farmed with biodynamic principles. Winemaking is deliberately restrained, with fermentations carried out in stainless steel and any élevage in oak limited to large, well-seasoned Slavonian barrels, allowing the wines to mature gently and without imprint. Sulfur is added only at bottling to ensure stability, preserving a pure and transparent expression of site marked by clarity of fruit, balance, and finesse. The Fatalone wines stand as some of the most precise and compelling expressions of Puglia, widely regarded among the region’s—and Italy’s—most refined red wines today.
Fatalone’s Teres Primitivo is a unique and delicious light red wine that comes from only the free-run must of the Racemi — the fruit of the second budding of Primitivo — which yields juice that has a light-body character and delicate palate with lovely sweet and floral aromas. The whole berries are fermented with native yeasts, spend 36 hours with the skins, and then are aged for 6 months. Teres is a fresh, mineral driven red wine that is light in color and body. Aromas of strawberry, cranberry, raspberry and red currant plume from the glass. The palate is soft and light with a mineral driven freshness to complement subtle notes of balsam and spruce. A remarkably versatile wine to enjoy any time of year with pizza, fried foods, seafood appetizers or grilled vegetables.
