Azienda Agricola Luigi Giordano - Vino Rosso 2025

Giovanni Giordano founded his Piedmontese estate — not far from the city center of Barbaresco — in the 1930’s when the world of Italian wine was in flux. Originally established to grow and sell wine grapes, the property was strengthened by Giovanni’s son Luigi, who carried on his father’s hard work. In 1958, Luigi made the daring decision to keep his fruit and make wine under his own label. At the time, it was nearly unheard of for an independent grower to bottle their own wine, especially when plans had only just begun regarding an official Barbaresco appellation. Today, this forward-thinking and bold-spirited tradition is upheld by Luigi’s daughter Laura and her son Matteo, who have continued to guide the estate towards producing expressive, terroir-driven wines that speak to their origin.

Luigi Giordano’s Vino Rosso is a stellar expression of that philosophy, bringing together 80% Nebbiolo and 20% Arneis — two of the region’s signature grapes — to create a wine that is unmistakably rooted in Barbaresco, yet entirely its own. The Vino Rosso opens with a lifted bouquet of wild red berries, rose petals and fresh flowers, followed by brighter notes of red cherry, raspberry and a subtle citrus lift. On the palate, it is delicate, but still packs a punch with juicy red fruit, lively acidity and a faint savory, earthy character that gives the wine astonishing depth. The tannins are ultra-fine and understated and the wine finishes with a refreshing, almost effortless drinkability that makes it hard to put down. Enjoy alongside a plate of salumi, wild mushroom crostini, handmade pasta with tomato and herbs, grilled sausages or roasted chicken. This vibrant Vino Rosso is also delightful when served with a slight chill.
