Founded by Aldo Frassinelli in 1966, Frassinelli is a family-owned estate producing both sparkling and still wines in the heart of the Piave Valley and the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Today, the estate is run by his daughter, Roberta, and son, Gianluca, who continue the family’s longstanding commitment to the land and to expressing the character of the local terroir. Located in Mareno di Piave, the estate encompasses 13 hectares of vineyards planted across several distinct sites, from the gravelly, clay-rich soils of the Piave plain to the limestone and marl-based soils of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills. The vineyards are farmed with the utmost care and respect for the plants, the earth and the terroir, with Frassinelli earning SQNPI certification for its sustainable approach to viticulture.
From their Glera vines, Frassinelli produces three expressions of Prosecco: Prosecco DOC, Prosecco DOC Treviso and Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG. But sparkling wine represents only part of the estate’s production. Frassinelli also cultivates a diverse range of grapes for still wines, including the indigenous Raboso Piave and Manzoni Bianco, as well as Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. These are bottled under denominations including DOC Piave and DOC Venezia, showcasing the remarkable versatility of the estate’s vineyards and the family’s ability to translate the character of different varieties and sites into distinctive wines. These are fabulous wines that are supreme examples of the joy, elegance and sense of place that can emerge from well-farmed, conscientiously made wines of the Veneto.
Frassinelli's Rive di Manzana is an extra-dry Prosecco from the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Rive Superiore DOCG (the second highest quality level of Prosecco), made from 100% Glera. In the glass, the wine shows a light gold color with a steady stream of tiny bubbles. Expressive aromas of Honeycrisp apples, acacia flowers, wisteria and pineapple float effortlessly from the glass, enticing the senses. The palate shows a lovely balance of sugar and acidity, giving just the right amount of sweetness to the succulent fruit flavors while endowing them with lift and energy. This is a serious Prosecco, one that is delightful to drink on its own, though also balanced and refined enough to enjoy with a plate of assorted cheeses, hors d'oeuvres or even spicy Asian dishes.
