Azienda Agricola Crivelli was established in 1860 when Secondo Crivelli purchased the Castagnole Monferrato property which included a small two hectares of vineyards. The estate essentially remained the same, handed down generation to generation, until Marco Maria Crivelli took over the property. Marco extended the vineyard area over the next few decades and by 2000, a modern winery and cellar was built. Today, Marco’s son Jonathan runs his family’s winery, farming the now ten hectares of vines planted to Ruchè, Grignolino, Barbera and Syrah. His focus is to craft quality wine with respect to the land and to preserve the passion and knowledge that has been passed down through the generations, and hopefully he can instill in his own children.
Crivelli’s Ruchè di Castagnole Monferrato — the estate’s flagship wine — pours a brilliant ruby red accentuated with violet highlights. This wine is intensely aromatic offering mouthwatering aromas of ripe stone fruit tinged with notes of rose petals and peppery spice. The palate is bright and well-balanced with juicy flavors of black cherry and pluot riding waves of gorgeous acidity and ultra-fine minerality toward a fresh and delicate finish marked with warm spice. Enjoy with wild mushroom agnolotti or braised lamb shanks.
