Description

Fratelli Broccardo has been a family estate since 1940’s, though it wasn’t until the 21st century they began selling their estate wine commercially. Today, the third generation manages their thirteen hectares of vineyards in the Langhe, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo and Novello where they grow Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. In addition to Paiagallo, Broccardo also makes Barolo from the Ravera, I Tre Pais, and Bricco San Pietro Cru sites.

Paiagallo is one of Barolo’s most distinct Cru vineyards; it is an amphitheater with perfect southeast exposure on limestone rich soils. In the glass, the wine shows a brilliant transparent ruby color with orange reflections. The aromas that plume from the glass are striking: raspberries, balsamic, fresh cherries, roses and earth. On the palate, Paiagallo shows its pedigree with loads of sandy tannins that perfectly frame the buoyant fruit concentration that runs parallel to a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and elegant with a perfume-like quality that is so attractive in young, drinkable Nebbiolo. This is truly a stunning wine that delivers amazing complexity, purity, transparency and length right out the bottle! A must have for any Barolo lover, tonight or any night over the next 20 years.
