Domaine le Pas de l’Escalette, les petits pas (the small steps) 2006 Coteaux duLanguedoc The estate is composed of 10 hectares of wind-swept vineyards in the Northern Languedocsurrounded by small walls of stones. Everything planted in small terraces high in altitude; nothing in the valley. It is like going back in time to the early 19th century, no “industrial” vineyards waiting for the machines. Julien and Delphine farm and make the wine as traditional and natural as possible. The wine is perfect, aromatic and complex not overwhelming. Grenache, Carignan, Cinsault and Syrah form an intense bouquet of pepper and Cohiba notes, the refreshing mid palate and opulence feels like biting a sherbet of bursting dark red berries. The tannins are firm but melted into the wine. The wine is in total harmony; a beautifully balanced and well-structured wine. |
