Dedicated to bringing historical California vineyards and varietals to the forefront of winemaking, Three specializes in handcrafted vintages of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Rhone blends. Winemaker Matt Cline yields to his California heritage, pulling from multiple varietals and appellations in his quest for the perfect wine. This Red Zinfandel is sourced from ancient vineyards in the Contra Costa County in California. This wine is a blend of 76% Zinfandel, 12% Petite Sirah, 6% Carignane, 4% Mataro and 2% Alicante Bouschet. All of the grapes in this blend come from vineyard blocks with extremely sandy-loam types of pre-Phylloxera vines, including Hanford Sandy Loam and Delhi Sandy Loam. The 2010 Zin has a deep purple color with aromas of dark red fruit and white pepper. Ripe, sweet fruit coats the palate. The finish is long with the perfect hint of spice.
