2009 Chateau les Farcies - Pecharmant (1.5L)Price: $39.00
The Appellation of Pécharmant is north-east of the town of Bergerac, located inland, due east of Bordeaux. In 2000, the Dubard family purchased the gorgeous "Farcies du Pech'" estate, because of its reputation for quality vineyards and its beautiful 18th century castle. The vineyards and cellar have since been restructured, and Les Farcies du Pech' is now one of the region's top wines. The estate is a ten-hectare vineyard containing, on average, twenty-year-old vines rooted in the Périgord sand and gravels that have been derived from the slow transformation of granite rocks. A deep layer of clay below, known locally as "Tran", gives Pécharmant wines an expressive mineral character. The Dubard family has a constant desire to produce elegant and well-balanced wines, expressive of the full potential of their terroir. It is with south-facing hillsides, the use of sustainable viticulture, and traditional wine-making techniques that they have succeeded in producing a wine of such exceptional quality. Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this is a wine with powerful charm and intense aromas. A complex nose of coffee, tobacco, cinnamon and black pepper is harmoniously blended with an ample and well-structured palate. The firm mineral presence acts as the foundation to the more lively lush black fruits mid-palate and leads the charge to the elegant, lengthy and spicy finish. The wine is perfect with traditional terrine dishes, roasted poultry and a variety of cheeses. Decant for twenty minutes or cellar for five to ten years. Related Products |
